Tom Maxwell’s insider account of the creative community around the Chapel Hill music scene of the 80s and 90s was one of my favorite reads from last year. If you were there then it’s a must-read. If not, it’s still an insightful look into how some creative scenes manage to flourish without giving in to corporate takeover.
